This beautiful pearl pendant features a green Tahitian South Sea pearl adorned with traditional Japanese maki-e artistry. Entirely applied by hand, maki-e is a centuries-old decorative technique in which precious metal powders and delicately layered shells are lacquered onto the surface of the pearl. In this piece, 24 karat gold and iridescent abalone shell inlay are used. The extraordinarily meticulous process requires immense precision, patience, and years of specialized training.
Set in 18K yellow gold, each pendant requires many hours of craftsmanship to complete, resulting in a jewel that feels both deeply historic and entirely modern - a rare expression of wearable art. South Sea pearl shown measures 12.3 × 14.9 mm.
All items are made to order. Delivery within 4 – 6 weeks. Customization at any length upon request. Special order in 18K white gold by request.
